Student Led Conferences

At St. Benedict School, we are proud to offer student led conferences in place of the traditional parent/teacher interview. We believe the student is the key element in the learning process and therefore it is necessary for him or her to be present to discuss strengths and struggles first hand. We invite the students to share their learning directly with their parents by completing objective based tasks and discussing assignments during the conference.  During the conference more than one family is in the  classroom, eliminating wait times and allowing the opportunity for each family to complete the tasks without feeling rushed.

This style of conference encourages your child to explain and review tasks, while emphasizing the successes and coming up with strategies to work towards improvement. It puts the responsibility for the work in your child’s hands instead of yours or the teacher’s. In addition,  it is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with your child that is dedicated solely to him or her. Student led  conferences are an informative and enjoyable experience offered at every grade level at St. Benedict School.
